This came after the second and third armies of Egypt successfully entered the Suez Canal and bypassed the Israeli Bar line and into Sinai. The Americans watched as Israel tried to regain its territory thus leading to the rethink in strategy. However, the major reasons that made America to rethink its tactics was because the battle was between two force equipped with modern weapons and because the battle was too intense and bloody. The bloody, close-run and intense battle by the Israeli made Americans to question their ability to sustain such a war that had become so lethal. Furthermore the destruction of U.S Army investigation teams and presence of antitank missiles and rockets made it apparent that the battlefield needed more than j ust superior technology. All tactics and systems had to be employed and balanced in synergy for a unit to ensure its survival in battle.Combat using tanks showed that the older M60 tank could be matched by the Sovietà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s T-62 tank.
